About Lloyd
I am a local journalist dedicated to telling the stories that shape our communities. My work centers on local government, community events, and the everyday happenings that matter most to the people of Colusa, Sutter, Yuba, and Butte counties. I strive to be a trustworthy local voice, approachable and knowledgeable, committed to both investigative reporting and community storytelling.
I grew up in Arbuckle, California, a small town where community ties run deep, and graduated from Pierce High School in 2004. After high school, I pursued my education at the University of Phoenix, earning an Associate of Arts in Business in 2008. My early career included deep involvement with the Colusa County Chamber of Commerce, where I was elected as the organization’s youngest Chamber President. During my time with the Chamber, I was honored as both Entrepreneur of the Year and Business of the Year, and in 2016 I was recognized by Congressman John Garamendi for my contributions to local business and civic life. The following year, in September 2017, I completed the process of adjudicating the Colusa County Pioneer Review as the official Newspaper of General Circulation for Colusa County.

I was once the owner of the Colusa County Pioneer Review, and after briefly stepping away to pursue another career path, I returned to journalism with even greater purpose. Today I cover news as an independent contractor for the Pioneer Review, the Gridley Herald, and the Territorial Dispatch, focusing on the towns of Arbuckle, Colusa, Williams, Maxwell, Sutter, Gridley, Live Oak, Yuba City, and communities across Butte County.
What sets my reporting apart is simple: I live in the same communities I write about. That perspective helps me notice the small details outsiders might overlook. I write with accuracy, clarity, and objectivity, aiming to build trust through straightforward reporting and transparency. My goal is always to balance accountability journalism with a commitment to capturing the voices of everyday residents.

Beyond reporting, I bring experience in graphic design, podcasting, and creative media. I have hosted The Backpage and What’s in That Yeti, and currently produce A Garden Runs Through It for the Colusa County Master Gardeners. These projects allow me to connect with audiences in new ways and experiment with how stories are told.
I am also deeply involved in community life, supporting organizations such as the Friends of the Colusa County Library and the Friends of the Colusa County Animal Shelter. These roles reflect my belief that journalism is not only about reporting on a community but also being part of it.

At the heart of my work is a commitment to freedom of the press and the role journalism plays in ensuring transparency and accountability. I want readers to know that when they engage with my reporting, they are part of sustaining local news. Together, we can keep our community informed, connected, and strong.
